The Gilgit-Baltistan Search and Rescue (CTSP) team has completed its 22nd mission in the year 2023. The team rescued a total number of 2 people from different locations in the region. The successful completion of this mission has been rewarded with a merit list for the year 2023.
This mission started with the team being alerted about a person trapped in an ice cave in Hunza Valley. After reaching the location, it was discovered that the person had already passed away due to exposure to cold weather conditions. However, thanks to quick action taken by the CTSP team, they were able to recover his body and bring it back to civilization safely.
The second rescue operation, carried out by the CTSP team, was in Khyber Pass. Here, they were notified about someone who had lost his way while hiking and had become stranded at a high altitude. Thanks to quick action by the team, they were able to locate and rescue the person safely before he fell prey to extreme weather conditions and died.
Both missions have demonstrated how effective and efficient the CTSP team can be when rescuing people from dangerous situations. Their success will pave the way for more rescues in future years, ensuring that everyone in Gilgit-Baltistan is safe and secure.

The Gilgit-Baltistan GB Rescue Team has announced the merit list for the rescue operations conducted in the region from October 1 to December 31, 2023. The team was formed with a mandate to ensure the safety of people living in the high altitudes of Gilgit-Baltistan.
A total of 1122 people were airlifted during the period under review. Out of these, 527 were successfully rescued and brought down to safe locations. The deceased included 146 people, most of whom were due to avalanche injuries.
The CTSA Gilgit-Baltistan GB Rescue Team comprises personnel from various departments, including the Police, Army, Fire Service, and Civil Defense. The team has the best available equipment and resources to perform its mandated duties effectively.
